Louisville, Well, we got off to Louisville for an Ohio River Chapter meeting, Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation , There is a group of guys in St. Charles Mo.
who have made replicas of the boats uses by the expedition. They put in at Louisville and
floated to the Mississippi, they are outfitted for the times and have a lot of fun from
what I can see.
Jeep acted up badly so we had more parts flown in from CA.
Then there is the case of OWC,
Back to Cumberland Gap .. Well the UPS man came through and I got my Jeep all fixed up and
ready for the Gateway to Cumberland Jeep Jamboree. It was back to the Cumberland Gap area,
where I met up with 175 other Jeeps, and 315 Jeep enthusiasts. This is a well organized
function, they take you out on the trails, this is just amazing what the Jeeps can do, and
what they get you to do. They climb hills, seeming defying gravity, and they descend grade
where you would think they where more likely to tumble. Through the woods to the top of the mountain, yep there are
Jeeps in the woods.
Then back down again, they guy on the right has to explain where
the Jeep is going. But an hour into the trail my little Jeep ( son of Christine) breaks
down ! A flat tire, OK but the transmission oil cooling line hose is torn and we are
pumping oil out by the quart ! the trail is now closed, no one can pass, no one can turn
around, But I have a spare hose ! so 2 big old farm boys change the tire
in about 4 min and it takes about ½ hour to change the hose, meantime new transmission
fluid is brought up the trail from behind, the group keeps is in touch via CB radio, and
we are off again. The next day I temporarily get caught on a tree ! But Charley grabs his chain saw and we are off again. Well this was fun and we will be doing it again, if I get to the
West I'll pick you up ! Boat out . The chore this week is to get to boat out of Buckeye Lake, the
water has been low, now it is very low, and the Park Service guys too the docks of the
ramp, this forces me to take the boat out on the other side of the Lake, a small logistics
problem , so they said give them a call and they will shuttle me back to get my car and
trailer. Winter's Coming, |
